May 1, 2019 - An Open Letter to the Cazenovia Community regarding the Old & Everlasting shop’s future
Hi. We’re Adam and Anya. In April 2018, we purchased the Old & Everlasting property at 1826 Ballina Road from Rob and Marianne Barry, inheriting the historic home, barn, and gift shop building that had been a landmark of Cazenovia for nearly 30 years.
As the Barrys embarked on a new adventure, we started to get to know this amazing place. This year has flown by. As we settled in with our young daughter, we added goats, chickens, and guinea hens to our family, and began thinking about the best future use of the former Old & Everlasting building. It became clear to us that the history behind the building, and the daily drive-bys of people looking for signs of reopening - all pointed to the ideal use of the space being what it has always been - a small, tastefully-curated gift shop.
In early 2019, we began conversations with the town regarding our desire to continue the legacy of the property and reopen the shop in the same spirit that the Barry’s for three decades. That conversation is just beginning. And we are committed to collaborating with the community to bring a shop back this beloved location.
But, we need your help! As described in the May 1st Cazenovia Republican article, it will not be a simple process. Your support will go a long way in moving the conversation forward, and if you’d like to help us continue the legacy of this historic property, please add your name and email below. And if you have a story or memory about Old & Everlasting you’d like to share as well, please do!
We will keep you posted as the conversation continues. Thank you so much in advance for your help! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at anya.woods@gmail.com.
With excitement for the future,
Anya & Adam O’Neill
